On Sunday April 1st, Isha volunteers held a curtain-raiser at India House for Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s upcoming visit to Houston to offer the Inner Engineering program, May 4-6 at George R. Brown Convention Center. Mr. Jugal Malani, President of India House, graciously hosted the event and supported the volunteers in many ways. The program was well-attended by over 100 guests including community leaders and local media.

Dr. Sen Pathak, distinguished research professor at M.D. Anderson, attended the event and expressed, “I have lived in Houston for last 42 years and have had numerous opportunities to attend and participate in social, educational and spiritual gatherings for many visiting leaders, performers, professors and spiritual gurus from around the world including my “Motherland” India. I can say with great honesty that the enthusiasm, creativity and performance I witnessed from volunteers of Isha Foundation was one of the best, if not the best.”
Attendees gained a deeper understanding of the power and purpose of yoga and meditation, especially after experiencing a meditation process first-hand, guided by an Isha teacher. The occasion was enriched by lively music from the ‘Sounds of Isha’ ensemble, an animated skit performed by the volunteers which brought laughs from all, and a delicious meal generously sponsored by local restaurants. Perhaps the most compelling moment came during Sadhguru’s live message to the Houston community:
“My effort is to bring a technology for your wellbeing. Today, there are various technologies to bring external wellbeing. Because of these technologies, human life has become more comfortable and convenient than ever before. As a generation of people, we are the most comfortable generation ever, but we cannot say we are the most joyful generation. We cannot say we are the most peaceful generation or loving generation. Because we have taken care of the external technologies- we have not made use of the inner technologies. So I’m coming to Houston to offer this dimension. To offer this dimension in utmost purity and the way it works- technology for inner wellbeing.”
Mr. Bangar Reddy, who along with Mr. Vijay Pallod was very involved in planning the event, shares "I have been working with all the Isha volunteers to see that this program is successful. Most importantly what touched me is the enormous benefit it offers in regards to inner wellbeing and it can reach people of any race, religion, etc. It's very interesting to note that many well-known professionals, doctors and community leaders who otherwise have extremely busy schedules have signed up for this event. I look forward to attend myself and I am encouraging my friends and neighbors. Houston awaits a Texas-sized welcome for Sadhguru."
Exciting!Next month this time we will be actually preparing the venue for more than a 1000 people to recieve the powerful Shambhavi Mahamudra from Sadhguru. Phew.
