"Our Arms are Open" – Devi Consecration and Sadhguru's Sathsang in Atlanta

Yesterday Sadhguru spent an event-filled day in Atlanta, conducting two Linga Bhairavi Yantra consecrations as well as an evening Sathsang hosted at Unity North Atlanta Church.

In both homes, the recipients of the Linga Bhairavi Yantras were glowing with happiness, which spread as smiles and laughter from all the guests, and of course Devi’s energy and grace was powerfully felt during the entire process. After the consecration was complete, Sadhguru addressed the guests, speaking about the process and answering questions. In one of the homes, he explained the Yantra as “the most efficient machine…a machine without any parts” and explained the difference between the Linga Bhairavi Gudis and the Yantras. The Gudi is more general, he said, while the Yantras are tailored for their recipients. “If you are the selfish type,” he joked, “you will get a Yantra.”

A guest at one of the consecrations shared:

“My family had the great fortune and blessing of attending one of the Devi consecrations here in Atlanta over this past weekend.  The entire process was magical – it seemed like we all melded together as we prepared the house for Sadhguru and Devi’s arrival arranging flowers and prasad (offerings) and preparing the space.  As the chanting started and Sadhguru arrived, you could feel the house being transformed.  We were all so happy about being there, and happy for the couple who received Devi, that it felt like it was our home being consecrated.  Ye Devi – our arms are open in Atlanta – we want the whole city to buzz with your energy and vibrancy.”

The preparations for the evening Sathsang flowed smoothly, thanks to the enthusiasm and excitement of the volunteers, eager for Sadhguru’s first visit to Atlanta since last fall’s Shambhavi program.

The event began with an introduction by Cheryl Simone, author of Midnights with the Mystic, who first encountered Sadhguru 10 years ago in Atlanta at a public talk…in the very same church! That first talk began her transformative journey with Isha that eventually inspired her to write a book and later film a DVD about her life changes and experiences with Sadhguru.

The hall was packed with over 900 attendees as Sadhguru entered and began with a few moments of meditation for everyone. Sadhguru remarked that while there were many long-time Isha volunteers in attendance, there was a large number of new faces as well.

The attendees were responsive throughout the evening, posing questions about the nature of karma, how to have more energy and compassion, the upcoming Hata Yoga teacher training, among others. Sadhguru interspersed his compelling logic with stories and jokes that drove home the message while receiving laughs from all.

Afterwards, volunteers and guests shared a starlit dinner accompanied by the local volunteer Sounds of Isha musicians.

One Sathsang participant shared, “Wow! I wanted to express how thankful I am that you put your energies toward the event last night at Unity.  It was beautifully and seamlessly orchestrated, and everyone was so kind. It made all the difference in my experience with Sadhguru. He alone is of course amazing, but the way the event was delivered was what made the experience so successful.
Many many thanks!” Jane Quinn

Another volunteer, Sanjay Rao, explained that “various teenagers (some meditators, some not) worked until midnight on Friday and again on Saturday to help get the venue ready.  They were then the last to leave at midnight on Saturday, after helping get the venue back to its original configuration so that the Sunday morning church service would happen without disruption to our hosts. They lifted and moved uncounted tables and chairs, served food, wiped down tables, put up posters, took out the trash, and did it all selflessly and smilingly.”

He also noticed that “at 10 pm on Saturday evening, we found that two of the drivers who were shuttling participants between the church and the remote parking lots were not Isha volunteers at all.  As I understand, they had heard Sadhguru live for the first time, felt inspired to volunteer, had quietly stepped forward to join the shuttle team, and were going about it so gracefully that it was hours before we realized it.”

It is already clear that the Devi consecrations and Sadhguru’s Sathsang have charged up and inspired Atlanta!
