On Sept. 27th, Isha Foundation, an international non-profit human service organization, will be hosting a day-long celebration of entertainment and enlightening talks at its yoga and meditation center in Middle Tennessee. The event will feature talks by prominent speakers and thought leaders such as Max Kennedy, Dr. Mark Hyman and more.

Max Kennedy

Author, attorney and environmentalist Maxwell Taylor Kennedy’s most recent work, Danger’s Hour: The Story of the USS Bunker Hill and the Kamikaze Pilot Who Crippled Her, is a gripping historical account set in the Pacific during World War II. Kennedy also wrote the national best-selling book titled Make Gentle the Life of This World : The Vision of Robert F. Kennedy and the Words That Inspired Him Mr. Kennedy, son of Robert Kennedy, is currently an Associate Scholar of the John Carter Brown Library, a center for advanced research in history and the humanities at Brown University.

In 2000, Mr. Kennedy managed Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s re-election campaign in 2000, and co-founded the Urban Ecology Institute at Boston College.

Mark Hyman

Mark Hyman, MD has dedicated his career to identifying and addressing the root causes of chronic illness through a groundbreaking whole-systems medicine approach known as Functional Medicine. He is a family physician, an eight-time New York Times bestselling author, and an internationally recognized leader in his field. Through his private practice, education efforts, writing, research, advocacy and public-policy work, he strives to improve access to Functional Medicine, and to widen the understanding and practice of it, empowering others to stop managing symptoms and instead treat the underlying causes of illness, thereby also tackling our chronic-disease epidemic.

Sadhguru

Arianna Huffington

Arianna Huffington is the chair, president and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, a nationally syndicated columnist and author of thirteen books.

In May 2005, she launched The Huffington Post, a news and blog site that quickly became one of the most widely read, linked to and frequently cited media brands on the Internet. In 2012, the site won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting.

In 2013, she was named to the Forbes Most Powerful Women list. In 2006, and again in 2011, she was named to the TIME 100, TIME magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people.

Originally from Greece, she moved to England when she was 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an M.A. in economics. At 21, she became president of the famed debating society, the Cambridge Union.

Kathleen Koch is a Washington-based author, speaker, moderator and freelance journalist. Her best-selling book, Rising from Katrina, which traces her Mississippi hometown’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina and her experiences covering it, was named Best Non-fiction in the Southeast Region in the 2011 Independent Publisher Book Awards. It also received an honorary mention for Book of the Year in the regional category from ForeWord Reviews.

Sandy Tolan is a journalist, teacher, and documentary radio producer. He is associate professor at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at USC. He has reported in more than 30 countries, especially in the Middle East, Latin America, the Balkans and Eastern Europe. He has produced dozens of documentaries for National Public Radio and Public Radio International, and has written for more than 40 newspapers and magazines, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, and The Nation.

Dr. Elizabeth Kapu’uwailani Lindsey is the first Polynesian Explorer and female Fellow in the history of the National Geographic Society. She is an internationally recognized expert in the field of cultural intelligence – a wholistic system of knowledge and wisdom based on indigenous science.

Lindsey is the Co-Founder and CEO of a San Francisco-based company with environmentalist and businessman Paul Hawken.

Becky Magura

Becky Magura has more than 30 years of experience in production, educational outreach and management at public television station, WCTE.

In 2006, Magura became WCTE’s fourth General Manager and has led the station team through digital transition in transmission and production as well as securing a second WCTE satellite studio.

She is also currently serving as the Chair of the National Educational Telecommunications Association’s Executive Board and on the Association of Public Television Stations Board of Trustees.
