The summer sun is gone for the season, but are you still feeling the heat?
Regardless of the external weather, for some people, excess heat can build up inside the body, leading to more than just discomfort. Excess heat can be felt in the joints and back as pain and stiffness. This surplus of heat also contributes to irritability and frustration, redness and inflammation of skin, acne, difficulty with weight loss or with digestion, and a sluggish bowel.
One simple way to relieve the body of excess heat is to take an oil bath. This remedy has been used in traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda for thousands of years. Not only is taking an oil bath an effective remedy, the process itself is also relaxing and enjoyable.
Oil Bath Natural Remedy
Slightly warm one cup of sesame oil
Apply the oil to the whole body including the head
Leave the oil for 40 minutes before washing off
Oil Bath Tips:
Make sure you choose a day when you have enough time to relax and leave the oil for a full 40 minutes.
Be careful while you rinse yourself, as oil can make shower and tub floors very slippery.
When drying yourself, use an older towel that you can wash separately and air dry – placing an oily towel in the dryer might cause a risk of fire.
In addition, regular oil baths over time might lead to slower drains. To avoid this, boil a few cups of water, add some baking soda and pour down the drain to clear any trapped oil.
