Today is International Day of Yoga. How are you celebrating?
Yoga Around the World
Isha has been in full swing for months preparing for this landmark day, the first-ever global celebration of yoga. Throughout the month of June, teachers and volunteers will host events in over 20 countries around the world. These sessions, to be held in over 100,000 locations, will offer simple yoga practices beneficial and suitable for all.
In the US, Isha will conduct yoga sessions for several Indian Embassies including the Consulate General of India in Houston and Atlanta, USA, as well as in numerous other locations. To search for events near you, visit Yogayoga.org.
Yesterday, Sadhguru conducted a curtain-raiser event in Bangalore, where the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri. Siddaramaiah, played a part of celebrations. Today, on Yoga Day itself, Sadhguru is offering simple yoga practices to thousands of gatherers in Chennai.
For several months, Isha has been closely associated with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) and the Indian Ministry of AYUSH in planning, preparation, promotion of IYD activities, as well as providing support as part of Yoga Expert Committee to aid different ministries in offering yoga programs to celebrate the event. Yoga sessions are planned for various ministries including the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Environment, in addition to government offices such as Indian Meteorological Department, Forest Department of Bhopal, Airports Authority of India, and Sports Authority of India.
Also in India, corporations including KMPG, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Fresh and Ashok Leyland will be getting into the spirit with Isha yoga sessions for their employees in various cities. Sessions will also be held for Northern Railway Zone, North western Zone, and Southern Railways staff, on board Spice Jet flights to benefit weary travelers; for utilities and telecom providers including Tata Power, Orange and Vodafone; for banks including HDFC, Deutsche and Barclays; for Bhopal, Delhi and Mumbai police and even for prisoners in Central Bhopal, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon prisons.
Just managing the logistics alone for all these events is a huge feat, and every event is taking place with great precision. Through live events and online yoga tools, Isha expects to share the experience of yoga with between 50 and 100 million people.
Tools for Transformation – to Share With All
In order to offer a taste of yoga to as many people as possible for Yoga Day, Sadhguru has specially designed a series of accessible capsules suitable for the general public. These 5-minute practices are centered on six themes: Health, Peace, Love, Success, Joy and Inner Exploration. Each theme offers a short background and a simple practice that can make a significant difference to the wellbeing of the practitioner. In addition, Sadhguru is also offering the simplest form of yoga – Namaskar – in a special video release. About 35,600 trained volunteers will conduct live sessions to transmit these beneficial practices, which are also being offered online.
In order to spread the message about International Yoga Day, you can share these 5 minute tools and Namaskar video with friends and loved ones. Can you encourage at least 5 people to try the practices for at least 5 days? You might be surprised by the benefits you can experience with even a few minutes of daily practice.
