Let There Be Faith

Faith helps us to move on in life. But is it impossible for a thinking and questioning mind to follow the path of faith?
The world is full of doubts. People's minds overflow with suspicions. What we require today is faith in every mind to overcome conflicts and suspicions. Without faith, there is no hope. If you believe the sun would never shine again can you hope for a beautiful day ahead? Faith strengthens us through the most difficult and challenging times in our lives.
Faith is not something that you can cultivate. If it happens to you, it happens, if it doesn't happen to you it doesn't happen, that's all. But that does not mean that one has to sit and wait and someday it will fall upon him. It's just that if you understand the fundamentals of living here, in this Existence, you will see for anything to happen, you must create the right kind of situation.
If you want to grow cotton, you must understand the right conditions for growing cotton. If you go and sit near a cotton plant and pray to God, cotton will not bloom! Instead, if you learn the right conditions for the cotton plant to grow, how the soil should be, how the manure should be, how the atmosphere should be, how the water should be—if you understand these conditions and create them, cotton will grow.
This is the basis of everything that is happening in the Existence—if you create the right kind of conditions, things will happen. Till you create the right kind of conditions, it doesn't matter how much you struggle, it is not going to happen. Likewise, if faith has to happen, you must create the right kind of condition for it.
Conditions necessary for faith
What are the conditions necessary for faith? Jesus said, "Come follow me". That was his teaching. If you understand him, nothing else matters. The most fundamental of his teaching is: "Come, follow me", that's all. When he said this, the great scholars of that time, the intellectuals, the educated and the powerful did not follow him. It was only the fishermen and the farmers who followed him. This is because the thinking minds cannot follow anybody blinded-folded. Only the simple and innocent followed him. However, even these fishermen, these simple folks, could not follow him for long—they walked a few steps behind him and looked for reasons to escape. They said, "My father is dead, I'll bury him and come".
But Jesus said, "Leave the dead to the dead, you come with me." People who didn't understand him called him arrogant. When your father is dead, what a thing to say! But, that's what Jesus said. So, only the very simple and innocent followed him. Others ignored him. Those who couldn't ignore him crucified him.
Faith is only for the innocent. The moment modern education has entered you, you have a thinking mind, a questioning mind, a doubting mind. With this you cannot follow the path of faith. Does that mean faith is impossible for you? No, but don't start with something that you don't have, start with something that you already have. Whatever is dominant in you—right now you're a thinking person, let's use that. Right now you're a physical person, let's use that. Right now you have a very strong sense of energy, let's use that. Let's say, right now you have lots of emotions in you, let's use that. But all these have to be cultivated. If you reach a certain level of experience, then devotion becomes a natural part of you. If you try to be devoted, you will become deceptive; this devotion is just deception.
Faith is an experience
Faith is something which is within you. It's your quality. It's not something that you can cultivate. Faith is just a deep falling back into the Existence; you as a person have fallen apart; you have just become a simple, little wave and mingled with the Existence. You understand and you experience that you're just a brief happening here. It's not an intellectual understanding; it's a living experience that you see yourself as a small crop of this earth. When you're in this state—as a living experience—you are faith. Until then, there is no point talking about faith.
Faithfulness is simply loyalty. That's for slaves and idiots. People who talk about loyalty are always people whose vested interest is how to hold you. It's a devise to hold you. Faith is not a devise to hold you, faith is about liberating you. Faith is not about belonging to this group or that group. Faith is just to become a part of this Existence. That is not something that you do, that is something that you become.
However, faith is the beginning of your quest for self-discovery. Faith can be neither forced nor taught; it is an experience that transcends trust, reason, belief and ideology. It's an infinite power that can otherwise serve as an effective spiritual guide.
