CATCHING THEM young for pursuing a noble cause was the way the Eco Centre of the Isha Yoga Foundation chose to celebrate the wildlife week.
The objective was to conduct programmes to help spread the message of conservation.
Children from various schools in and around Coimbatore took part in the event. Elocution, Oratorical and painting contests were held on nature and environment. Children from St. Michael School, Mani Higher Secondary School, Sub-Urban Higher Secondary School, Kikkani School and GD Matriculation School took part in the event. Students of Government Higher Secondary School, Alandurai, Thondamuthur and Mathvararayapuram took part in large numbers.
The Conservator of Forests, Coimbatore Circle, T. Sekar, flagged off a rally aimed at promoting and propagating the awareness on ecological conservation. Captain M. Mahilingam of Isha Centre welcomed the students. The Conservator T. Sekar and District Forest Officer, P. Durairasu, provided the students an insight into the rich biodiversity. The presentation gave the students an opportunity to know more about flora and fauna. The Director of the Corporation Zoo, N.S. Manoharan took the students around the Zoological Park and enlightened them on the species available. Swami Gurupiksha and the Conservator gave away prizes to the students who excelled well in the various contests.
