A 7-day intensive yoga program called Isha Yoga, "The Soul of Yoga," will be held at Life University, School of Chiropractic from February 5-11, 2003. The weeklong program will be held 7 Pm- 10:15 Pm on weekdays, and 8 Am - 6:30 Pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Sadhguru, founder of the non-profit Isha Foundation says, "Never in history has humanity been as comfortable, yet as insecure as it is now." As more and more people seek solutions to manage stress and problems caused by the rapid pace of life and change around them, Sadhguru proclaims his solution, "It is time to look within oneself." Vasudev, who has been practicing yoga since age 13, is committed to communicating a form of yoga that is simple enough to integrate into modern life. Isha Yoga (Isha means "formless divine") teaches practices to unite the body, mind and energy. Although yoga conjures images of people in complex physical postures, the physical requirements for this program are minimal and only a small aspect of Isha Yoga. Unlike the exercise-based form of yoga, Vasudev teaches a dynamic combination of breathing techniques and meditation, which stimulates the release of physical, mental and emotional blocks and activates spontaneous expression of one’s vital energy. The meditation and simple postures require no physical agility or previous yoga training. Sadhguru says his program is simple and easy for everyone to follow, and does not require a change in life style or beliefs, and has nothing to do with religion or psychological exercises.
Isha Yoga students of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev cross international boundaries and represent all walks of life. Practitioners include families, doctors, business professionals and athletes. Vasudev says his yoga program can be thought of ‘as a modern antidote to stress, fear and anger, and can be used as a tool to help people keep up with the rapid pace at which things are changing around them.’ Those who have practiced with Vasudev say his yoga is an amazing purifier for the body, and was an effective cure for ailments such as asthma, headaches, obesity, pain and insomnia. Physician practitioners of Isha Yoga advocate the health benefits of the program, claiming it ‘makes a lot of good medical sense’. Dr. Kalpana Rajdev, who has studied with Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev for a couple of years says, "The practices we learned raised my energy level. Now I thrive on more work or challenges. The meditation has been most beneficial. I am able to remain calm and focused; stress does not affect me at work or at home. Now yoga is my number one prescription!"
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev works tirelessly to lift up the individual in an almost effortless manner, helping people return to their natural, intended state of being. His simple but profoundly effective methods and scientific approach to the human dilemma have touched multitudes of people around the world. Sadhguru is the founder of Isha Foundation, which is devoted to advancing physical, mental and spiritual health through yoga science. The master’s humanitarian initiatives with the United nations for world peace and his outreach programs for life-term prisoners and destitute children have received international attention. He was among the world’s preeminent spiritual leaders attending at the Millennium World Peace Conference at the United Nations, and continues his work for peace as a spiritual statesman around the world. Sadhguru stands as a unique advocate for world peace in that his approach is through inner peace of the individual. He says this is the only lasting way to achieve world peace.
Vasudev’s Isha Foundation manages over 50 Yoga Centers, an Ashram and yogic hospital, plus Dhyanalinga Multi-Religious Meditation Shrine and Temple outside of Coimbatore, India. Students experience Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev as an enlightened being, whose very presence and energy is a source of inspiration. As one student says of Vasudev’s teachings, "I feel like I’ve learned an amazing life secret. There are so many people who could benefit from this. We just need to let them know it’s available."
