THE COPIOUS rain this season has come as a shot in the arm for the various afforestation programmes that have been initiated in the State. The Isha Yoga Centre undertook a novel attempt to popularise these programmes at the Marudhmalai Temple, recently. The volunteers who came to attend a wedding at the temple, planted peepul saplings in the premises and also placed tree guards with slogans on eco-awareness.

Nearly 25 dustbins were kept at vantage points, to help keep the temple premises clean and also systemize garbage disposal. The Deputy Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department, M. Kavitha, appreciated the efforts undertaken by the Centre.
