“The very idea behind a pilgrimage is fundamentally to subdue the sense of who you are. It is to become nothing in the process of just walking and climbing and subjecting yourself to various arduous processes of nature. So these places of pilgrimage in the ancient past were always located in such places where a person has to go through a certain amount of physical, mental, and every kind of hardship to get there; so that in the process he becomes less than who he thinks he is right now.” – Sadhguru

The Kailash Manasarovar pilgrimage is considered by many as the journey of a lifetime. These spaces are revered as the spiritual center of the universe by five religions and are subjects of innumerable legends.

Kailash is a mountain of knowledge and knowing in Grace. In terms of inner dimensions, everything that you ever want to know about your own creation, existence, and liberation are there in Kailash. If one is willing to raise one’s perception to sufficient clarity, one can delve into this infinite library. It is known as the Abode of Shiva, who in the yogic culture is not seen as a god, but as the Adiyogi – the first yogi and first teacher of yoga.

“Manasarovar” means “Lake of Consciousness”, and is considered the most sacred lake in the world, attributed with healing properties. Sadhguru has described it as a mystical phenomenon, which is deeply connected to the human system. Situated at a height of 15,015 ft. and roughly 20 km away from Kailash, Manasarovar is believed to house the Kalpavriksha, the wish-fulfilling Divine Tree, and is considered to be the source of all Creation.

Sadhguru speaks of Kailash Manasarovar as astounding in terms of experience.  His own contact with this sacred realm is something he described as “well beyond anything that I have seen till now.”

For the eighth year in a row, Isha Sacred Walks is organizing a 13-day journey across India, Nepal and Tibet, described by Sadhguru as “walking on the body of Shiva”. Isha has taken thousands of people to Kailash, organizing a fantastic journey across some of the most breathtaking places on earth. Meticulous care is taken along the way to make sure participants experience nothing less than the ultimate.

It is not a question of belief, faith, or religion. This is the greatest opportunity to surrender completely on the journey towards one’s ultimate freedom, while being guided by a realized master. This indescribable journey is a step towards the Divine within.

Registration is now open for the Kailash Manasarovar Sacred Walk. Please visit Isha Sacred Walks for further information.

from the pictures alone, the place looks breath-taking! really looks like a harmonious place. my most favorite shot of all the pictures would be the one where it looks like it’s dusk (or dawn–i’m not sure) but still it looks such a magnificent place.
