Sadhguru Lifts the Fog in San Francisco
Apr 2009
The arrival of Spring and Sadhguru were simultaneous in San Francisco this year and for the near 1,000 attendees of "An Evening with the Mystic" in downtown San Francisco's Herbst Theater, this experience seemed to "lift the fog" surrounding their lives as they listened to Sadhguru speak with such clarity, wit and wisdom.
The announcement of Sadhguru's visit appropriately came during the Thanksgiving weekend of 2008 following which many volunteers worked passionately to welcome their beloved Sadhguru once again to their city. The broad publicity, which included larger than life posters on the city buses and extensive flyering, proved to be a successful marketing plan which flooded the RSVP lines and resulted in a full capacity attendance.
The first day of spring sprung with a clear sky and bright sun. The fluttering butterflies, spring blossoms, crisp air and soft winds all seemed to be welcoming Sadhguru to our town. Within a few hours the volunteers transformed the Herbst Theater stage into a simple yet elegant backdrop for Sadhguru. The stately foyer was filled with eager guests being welcomed by the smiling faces of our meditators and the sweet melodies of the flute (Master Prasanna Rajan), guitar (Mr. Ronen Sberlo) and tabla (Master Shashank Patil). Our guests were greeted by an Isha Teacher who introduced the brief overview video of Isha's work both in the area of "Inner Engineering" and social responsibility across the world, followed by author, Cheryl Simone who briefly shared her life experience and the opportunity to ask Sadhguru her life-long questions during a week long stay at her North Carolina lake house which ultimately resulted in the book "Midnights with the Mystic".
Sadhguru's opening chant seemed to enthrall the audience and energize the space, setting the stage to "lift the fog" for everyone present. With his engaging wit and logic he touched upon several topics including the current situation, general problems human beings are faced with and how ‘Inner Engineering' and the technology that he has developed based purely on ancient Yogic principles can transform one's life and help them to realize their potential and attain the ultimate. His words seemed to resonate with the audience. Following a brief Q & A session he closed with a simple meditation process which palpably affected everyone present.
The departing guests having received a glimpse of the possibility Sadhguru offers us were eager to learn more about Isha and its many projects. Unlike the daily morning fog which lifts with sunrise, the "fog" lifted by Sadhguru was certain to have a permanent impression on our guests and meditators. The meditators already so grateful for Sadhguru's presence, were further blessed with an additional intimate Sathsang which further fueled their enthusiasm.
Sadhguru's visit, talk and message felt like cool breeze across a spring landscape - pleasurable, memorable and tantalizing.
